Planning
Woohoo flights have been booked, a bike and barge tour is booked in Bergundy, France.
Departing Auckland New Zealand we fly to San Francisco and stop there for 3 nights, got to break up this flight around the world, don't want to arrive too jetlagged at the end and it gives us the chance to see and American City. We then fly onto London where the real tour begins. After seeing what London has to offer we plan to hire a car and drive right around the UK taking in Scotland, Ireland Wales and England and after seeing many castles and taking in all the history this country has to offer we will then taking the Eurostar across the channel to France and begin our tour there.
A Bike/Barge tour has been booked in Burgundy starting from the town of Dijon the capital of Burgundy, and follows the Canal of Burgundy and the River Saon to the charming town of Tournus.
The scenry changes from small villages and rolling hills, to lively and historical towns like Beaune and Chalon sur Saone.
The idea is that we sleep on the Barge, Anna Maris V, and during the day we will cycle up to 60km, and maybe walk a bit through some of the towns, sample a few wines and cheeses along the way. Sounds like a good way to see an area.
Our schedule a fairly loose, but we plan to visit Amsterdam, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, fly onto Greece and Turkey.
We planned to book a vespa tour (scooter) in Italy to tour around the Umbia area, visit Cinque Terre, (and exceprt from lonely planet) "Here five crazily constructed fishing villages, set amid some of the most dramatic coastal scenery on the planet, ought to provide enough to bolster the most jaded of spirits. A Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997, Cinque Terre isn't the undiscovered Eden it once was but, frankly, who cares? Sinuous paths tempt the antisocial to traverse seemingly impregnable cliffsides, while a 19th-century railway line cut through a series of coastal tunnels ferries the less brave from village to village. Thankfully cars – those most ubiquitous of modern interferences – were banned over a decade ago

visit Monte Cassino where Scotts fathers brother was killed in the second World War and is buried there, go to the Normandy Landings, visit Gallipoli.
We fly out of Istanbul back to Hong Kong where there is another three night stop over then back to Auckland.
